What is it?

The Aggie Lemon Racing team is an engineering organization which focuses on teaching vehicle mechanics and teaches how to work on cars. They have workshops that show how to work on cars and work together to build an endurance car to compete in the 24 Hours of Lemons race.

Lemon Racing

The 24 Hours of Lemons race is an endurance race where participants race "lemons" with a budget that cannot exceed $500. The race lasts for 24 hours and participants go around the track as many times as they can. The winner is determined by the amount of laps your car an do. A "lemon" is a car with defects that make it unsafe to drive. There are also multiple races year 'round all across the United States.

Team History

The Aggie Lemons Racing team has been around for 2 years and they were started by former student Alberto Valdes. The team has participated in the 24 Hours of Lemons 4 times and their car has had difficulties in the race. In their last race their gas tank began leaking and they had to replace as soon as the race started. So far they have been unable to place in the race but they are looking to turn their luck around this March.

Me

I chose to cover this team because I have grown up around cars my whole life. My father and my grandfather worked as mechanics their whole lives and have been fixing cars since I was kid. Cars have been something I have been interested in for awhile and I am hoping to see what the race is about. I also believe my dad and grandfather would find the Aggie Lemons Racing team entertaining.

My dads 1969 Camaro.
